Calibration of automated water-path breast ultrasound scanners

Simple calibration procedures that can be performed by a technologist for Ausonics, Labsonics, and Technicare automated water-path breast scanners are described. These procedures can be applied to each unit to test transducer resolution, slice thickness, and sensitivity. Quality control has ensured consistent and reliable operation of these units and has helped technologists to describe specific problems to service engineers.
